a eulogy

More swords
than words
for they scratched my heart

More masks
than faces

Beasts hiding daggers
behind their backs
waiting for your first slip

You show a flaw
they show a jaw

Jesus is decor on the wall
Forgiveness? [rolls eyeball]

They cannot hold love
with bare hands
but in a glove
for Love is scary

Beware of giving
beware of loving
beware of being

My heart is broken
but I am not scared
from a heart that’s holed
I’ll mend it with gold
like real Kintsugi
for I am not scared of scratches
for real

You lost nothing,
the mask whispered to me

I lost
my hero
and I grieve
and I cry
at nights

and sometimes
I write
a eulogy.
